May 2025 Book Club: Habits of the Household
this month's book pick, why I'm excited for a re-read, our monthly reading schedule, and what to look forward to this month in the Slow + Sacred Book Club!
It’s a new month, which means a new book for the Slow + Sacred Book Club! I’m excited to dive in with you!
This month, we’re reading Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Earley—a book that is covered in highlights and notes from the last time I read it. I can’t wait for a refresher on the habits offered in these pages. Some I’ve adopted and still use to this day and some I need a gentle reminder to pick back up.
This book is so helpful to read alongside other moms (and dads) so I’m so excited that you’re joining me in this discussion!
Justin Whitmel Earley walks us through ten habits that will help form us into intentional families with a greater sense of peace, purpose, and love. These habits will help us practice the story of God in our everyday ordinary lives with kids. From waking up to meal times to bedtime liturgies and more, we’ll discover how small habits make a big difference in family discipleship.
Throughout May, we’ll explore each of these habits and how they form us into people of love, bringing gentle awareness to patterns that already exist in our homes and evaluating how we can show up in these areas with more grace, presence, and love. As we read, I’ll share recipes that meet us where we’re at in the everyday chaos of raising kids, gentle reflections to contemplate how we integrate these habits, and prompts to help you bring these truths into your real life.
